Annville-Cleona Ice Hockey Club
Dear Parents and Hockey Fans,
Welcome to another hockey season of Annville-Cleona Ice Hockey and the Central Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League. We are looking forward to the start of our 2011-2012 Season and building on last year’s success by both of our teams for our 15th Season.
Our club will again field two teams in Tier II, Lancaster-Lebanon-Berks Division. This year Varsity will be a pure team and Middle School will return players from Northern-Lebanon, ELCO, and Lebanon area schools. The 2010-2011 Season was a building year for our Middle School Team. CPIHL combined Tier 1 and Tier 2 middle school teams last season, which meant that our players were going up against much larger schools, ending up in a very lopsided season. The Middle School Team ended with a record of 1-13-0. Our varsity team made it to the post-season again, winning in the first round to Cedar Crest, 3-2; Red Land 4-0 in the second round; Lampeter-Strasburg 3-2 in the Semi-Finals. Their Cinderella season came to and end on March 4, 2011 when E-Town won 6-0 in the Viola Cup Final. Although we wished for a different outcome, we are very proud of our players who, for the 2nd time in three years, made it to the Viola Cup Final game. Varsity ended with an official record of 10-6-2.
Our club was represented in the CPIHL Senior All-Star game, held at the Twin Ponds East, by Seniors Dylan Kapp and Matthew Bentz. We were also represented in the CPIHL Skills Competition by Sophomore Cody Brightbill, Breakaway Shot; Senior Matthew Bentz, Fastest Skater; Senior Dylan Kapp, Hardest Shot and Junior Matthew Schultz, Goaltender. Dylan and Cody both advanced to the semi-finals before bowing out. We are proud of all of our players who were able to represent our school. Our Annual Alumni game this year was won by the Little Dutchmen team after successfully winning against the Senior Dutchmen and then the Junior Dutchmen teams. We are looking forward to March 4th, 2012, for our 10th Annual event (Klick-Lewis Arena, 6pm) to see if the Little Dutchmen Team can defend their title!
Our 15th season starts with the return of Nathan Brightbill as Varsity Head Coach and Ed Hine as Middle School Team Head Coach. We are very pleased to continue to have their experience and that of our Assistant Coaches; Bob Leiby, Sam 'Barney' Breidenstine, Steve Bowman, Mike Miller and Tim Gettle. All of these gentlemen have volunteered and devoted their time to our players and to the continued development of the Ice Hockey program for Annville-Cleona and we appreciate and thank them all.
